Cruise Control System Pinpoint Test 9: Cruise Control Indicator Lamp Is Always On

CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM PINPOINT TEST 9: CRUISE CONTROL INDICATOR LAMP IS ALWAYS ON

PINPOINT TEST 9 CRUISE CONTROL INDICATOR LAMP IS ALWAYS ON
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK CRUISE CONTROL SERVO
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: speed control servo 0120-101.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Check the cruise control indicator lamp.
  • Does the cruise control indicator lamp remain on? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new cruise control servo. See CRUISE CONTROL SERVO REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
2 CHECK O/LB FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Instrument Cluster 0922-102.
  • Measure the resistance between the speed control servo 0120-101 pin 1, circuit O/LB, harness side and ground.
  • Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
Yes Install a new instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . Perform the self-test diagnostics. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
No Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation. See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CRUISE CONTROL  .
