PINPOINT TEST 14 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT CONCERNS
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 PRELIMINARY CHECKS
  • Perform the following preliminary checks:
    • Transmission fluid concerns (such as level, quality, leaks).
    • Wiring harness (connections).
    • Vehicle modifications (such as related electronic add-on items, large changes in tire diameter).
  • Are all checks OK? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Service as required.
Verify symptom no longer exists.
2 PERFORM PCM QUICK TEST
  • Are any DTCs displayed during Continuous Memory, Key ON, Engine OFF (KOEO) or Key ON, Engine Running (KOER) Self Tests?  See PCM QUICK TEST  .
Yes Check for cause.
See DTC INDEX - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)  .
No Go to next step.
3 CHECK TRANSMISSION
See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSIS for automatic transmission concerns.
  • Is transmission OK? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Service as required.
4 VERIFY TEST RESULTS
  • Are test results OK? 
Yes Troubleshooting complete.
No Service any additional symptoms.
