Mirrors Inoperative (All)

SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - MIRRORS INOPERATIVE

PINPOINT TEST 1 MIRRORS ARE INOPERATIVE (ALL)
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK SJB FUSE 30 (5A)
  • Key OFF.
  • Check SJB fuse 30 (5A).
  • Is the fuse OK? 
Yes Go to step 2.
No Replace the fuse. Test the system for normal operation. If fuse 30 (5A) fails again, Check for a short to ground. Repair as necessary.
2 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE POWER OUTSIDE MIRROR CONTROL - CIRCUIT O/LG
  • Disconnect exterior rear view mirror switch connector 0912-301.
  • Measure the voltage between exterior rear view mirror switch connector 0912-301 pin 1 circuit O/LG and ground.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Go to step 3.
No Repair O/LG wire. Test the system for normal operation.
3 CHECK CIRCUIT B FOR AN OPEN
  • Measure the resistance between exterior rear view mirror switch connector 0912-301 pin 5 circuit B and ground.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to step 4.
No Repair B wire. Test the system for normal operation.
4 CHECK CIRCUIT Y/B FOR AN OPEN
  • Disconnect the left exterior rear view mirror connector 0912-302.
  • Disconnect the right exterior rear view mirror connector 0912-303.
  • Measure the resistance between exterior rear view mirror switch connector 0912-301 pin 6 circuit Y/B and left exterior rear view mirror connector 0912-302 pin 3 circuit Y/B wire.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Replace the power outside mirror switch. See POWER OUTSIDE MIRROR SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
Test the system for normal operation.
No Repair Y/B wire. Test the system for normal operation.
