Test 2: Set Speed Fluctuates

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove speed control cable from speed control actuator. Visually inspect core wire and speed control cable by pulling on it while observing throttle movement. If speed control cable and throttle body linkage are okay, go to next step. If speed control cable and throttle body linkage are not okay, replace speed control cable. See SPEED CONTROL CABLE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Drive vehicle and observe speedometer operation. If speedometer needle fluctuates, repair speedometer circuits as necessary. See INSTRUMENT PANELS article. If speedometer does not fluctuate, replace speed control actuator. See SPEED CONTROL ACTUATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
