Test 2: Set Speed Fluctuates

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove cruise control cable from cruise control actuator. Visually inspect core wire and cruise control cable by pulling on it while observing throttle movement. If cruise control cable and throttle body linkage are okay, go to next step. If cruise control cable and throttle body linkage are not okay, replace cruise control cable. See CRUISE CONTROL CABLE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Drive vehicle and observe speedometer operation. If speedometer needle fluctuates, repair speedometer circuits as necessary. See INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If speedometer does not fluctuate, replace cruise control actuator. See CRUISE CONTROL ACTUATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
