Removal & Installation

Disconnect negative battery cable. Move any hoses, wiring or components interfering with distributor removal. Reference mark high tension wires to distributor cap and disconnect all wiring from distributor. Remove distributor cap. Remove hold-down bolt and distributor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Align No. 1 cylinder and distributor matching marks to Top Dead Center. After installing the distributor, connect the high-tension leads and distributor connector. Tighten locknut/bolts to specified torque 14-18 ft-lb (19-25 N.m). See Fig 1. Adjust ignition timing. See D - ADJUSTMENTS - 2.0L article.
