TCS Off Indicator Light Illuminates During Driving

NOTE: If engine cooling system temperature is extremely low, TCS control is temporarily interrupted until engine coolant temperature increases. If this occurs, TCS OFF indicator light will turn on.

Start and run engine for 15 minutes. Observe TCS OFF indicator light. If light is on, go to next step. If light is off, system is functioning properly at this time.
Check TCS OFF switch. See TCS OFF SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTING. Replace switch as necessary. If switch is okay, check wiring harness for short to ground between ABS/TCS control module and TCS OFF switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair wiring harness as necessary. If wiring harness is okay, go to next step.
Check for ABS and TCS related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If no DTCs are present, go to next step. If any DTCs are present, perform appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TESTING .
Check for engine control system related DTCs. See appropriate article:

- TESTS W/CODES - 2.5L - 1995.
- TESTS W/CODES - 2.3L - 1996.
- TESTS W/CODES - 2.5L - 1996.
If no DTCs are present, go to next step. If any DTCs are present, repair as necessary.
Check for a short to ground in wiring harness between ABS/TCS control module and TCS OFF indicator light. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair wiring harness as necessary. If wiring harness is okay, replace ABS/TCS control module.
