Purge Solenoid Valve Control Signal

  1. Warm engine to operating temperature and run at idle. Connect voltmeter between Yellow/Red wire terminal of purge solenoid valve and ground. See Figure . Connect tachometer to engine.
  2. Increase engine speed and verify voltmeter indicates zero volts at more than 1400 RPM. If it does not, check coolant thermosensor and ECU terminal 1C. See PIN VOLTAGE CHART S article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Replace ECU if necessary.
  3. Disconnect vacuum sensor hose. Connect vacuum pump to sensor. Apply vacuum. Verify voltmeter indicates approximately 12 volts at more than 7.9 in. Hg. If it does not, check coolant thermosensor, vacuum sensor and ECU terminals 1C and 1E. See PIN VOLTAGE CHART S article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
