Fuel System Pressure Check

310-D009 (D95L-7211-A) Fuel Pressure Test Kit

Check

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this article , refer to Safety Warnings in General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTE: This pressure check is for the low pressure side of the fuel system.

Refer to: Gasoline and Gasoline-Ethanol Fuel Systems Health and Safety Precautions .
- Remove the nut.
- Remove the engine appearance cover.
- If the engine appearance cover stud bolt is loosened or removed, it must be installed/tightened into the intake manifold.
  Torque
  
  : 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
- Detach the tube and position from the upper air cleaner outlet pipe.
- Loosen the clamps and remove the upper air cleaner outlet pipe.
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner 3.0L EcoBoost .

Disconnect the fuel jumper tube-to-high pressure pump quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
Install the Fuel Pressure Test Kit between the fuel jumper tube and the fuel tube. Use Special Service Tool: 310-D009 (D95L-7211-A) Fuel Pressure Test Kit.

NOTE: The FPDM electrical connector was previously disconnected to release the fuel system pressure and must be reconnected to test the fuel system pressure.

Reconnect the FPDM electrical connector.
Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner 3.0L EcoBoost .
- Tighten the clamps and install the upper air cleaner outlet pipe.
  Torque
  
  : 35 lb.in (4 Nm)
- Install the tube.

NOTE: Carry out a Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) visual inspection for fuel leaks prior to completing the fuel system pressure test.

NOTE: After completion of the fuel system pressure test, open the drain valve on the Fuel Pressure Test Kit and release any residual fuel into a suitable container prior to removing the tool.

Test the fuel system pressure to make sure it is within the specified range. Refer to: Specifications .
