Rear Wheel Speed Sensor: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

All vehicles 

  1. Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector and detach the wiring retainers

    All wheel drive (AWD) vehicles 

  3. NOTE: Make sure that the sensor housing area is clean and free of foreign material before the sensor is removed.

    Using compressed air, clean the sensor housing area.

  4. Remove the bolt and the rear wheel speed sensor.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    Front wheel drive (FWD) vehicles 

  5. NOTE: Make sure that the sensor housing area is clean and free of foreign material before the sensor is removed.

    Using compressed air, clean the sensor housing area.

  6. Remove the harness bracket bolt, the sensor bolt and the rear wheel speed sensor.

    Torque: Wheel speed sensor harness bracket bolt: 80 lb.in (9 Nm) Wheel speed sensor bolt: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)
