Throttle Position (TP) Sensor - 3.7L Ti-VCT: Installation
- Install the intermediate gear. With the gear teeth aligned, the intermediate gear should slide easily into place.
- Make sure the seal included with the new TP
sensor is fully seated within the groove. Make sure the mating surface of the ETB
is not scratched or damaged.
-
NOTE: Apply only gentle finger torque to rotate the Throttle Position (TP) sensor rotor. Rotate the TP sensor rotor only in a clockwise direction no more than 180 degrees. If the TP sensor rotor can be turned more than 180 degrees, discard the TP sensor and install a new TP sensor.
If necessary, gently rotate the TP sensor rotor clockwise to correctly orient it so it will align with the throttle shaft tang during assembly.
-
NOTE: Do not force the Throttle Position (TP) sensor onto the throttle shaft tang. Minimal effort is required when correctly installing the TP sensor.
Slowly install the TP sensor on the ETB , making sure the TP sensor rotor slides onto the throttle shaft.
- Install the 4 bolts and tighten in the sequence shown in the illustration below in 2 stages.
- Install the ETB . Refer to FUEL CHARGING AND CONTROLS - 3.7L TI-VCT .
