Pinpoint Test I: The Yellow Abs Warning Indicator Does Not Self-Check
- I1 CHECK THE YELLOW ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) WARNING INDICATOR
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: ABS module C135.
- Key in ON position.
- Is the yellow ABS warning indicator illuminated?
- Yes
: GO to I2.
- No
: REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
to continue the diagnosis of the ABS warning indicator.
- I2 CHECK ABS WARNING INDICATOR PROVE OUT
- Key in OFF position.
- Connect: ABS module C135.
- Key in ON position.
- Does the yellow ABS warning indicator prove out for 3 seconds and then turn off?
- Yes
: The yellow ABS warning indicator is working correctly at this time. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No
: CONNECT the diagnostic tool and CHECK for DTCs. If no DTCs, GO to I3.
- I3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect the ABS connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the ABS connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes
: INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No
: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
