Pinpoint Test O: The Stability Assist Cannot Be Disabled

CAUTION: Use the flex probe kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
  1. O1 CHECK THE STABILITY ASSIST SWITCH
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Stability Assist Switch C280.
    • Turn the stability assist switch to the OFF position.
    • Measure the resistance between the stability assist switch C280 pin 1, circuit 640 (RD/YE), component side and the stability assist module C280 pin 2, circuit 959 (GY), component side.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
    • Yes  : GO to 02.
    • No  : INSTALL a new stability assist switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. O2 CHECK CIRCUIT 959 (GY) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: ABS Module C135.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the ABS module C135 pin 38, circuit 959 (GY), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present?
    • Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. REPEAT the self-test.
    • No  : GO to 03.
  3. O3 CHECK CIRCUIT 960 (BK/LB) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the resistance between the ABS module C135 pin 13, circuit 960 (BK/LB), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
    • Yes  : GO to 04.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. O4 CHECK FOR THE CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
    • Disconnect all the ABS connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the ABS connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
