Fuel Injection Supply Manifold: Removal

WARNING: Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.

WARNING: Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running.

WARNING: Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved.

Relieve the fuel pressure. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Disconnect the fuel hoses. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
Remove the throttle body. For additional information, refer to THROTTLE BODY .
Remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube. For additional information, refer to ENGINE EMISSION CONTROL .
Remove the drive belt. .
Disconnect the electrical connector, generator harness, and harness pin-type retainer.

Remove the bolts and the generator mounting bracket.

Remove the spring, the bolts, and disconnect the accelerator and speed control cables from the throttle body (TB).

Unclip the accelerator cable and the speed control actuator cable from the two crash brackets, and position out of the way.

Disconnect the vacuum hoses, electrical connector, and crankcase ventilation tube, and position aside.

Disconnect the eight fuel injectors.

Disconnect the vacuum hoses and the electrical connector.

Disconnect the vacuum hose from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve.

Remove the studs.
Remove the crash bracket.
Remove the studs.
Remove the fuel injection supply manifold and the fuel injectors as an assembly.
