Pinpoint Test C: DTC B1484 - Brake Pedal Input Open Circuit
CAUTION:
The Flex Probe Kit must be used for all test connections. Use of standard multimeter probes may damage wiring terminals.
C1 CHECK THE STOPLAMPS
- Apply the brake pedal.
- Do the stoplamps illuminate?
Yes
GO to C2.
No
REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
C2 CHECK THE ABS MODULE BOO_ABS PID
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Key in ON position.
- Monitor the ABS module PID BOO_ABS, while applying and releasing the brake pedal.
- Does the ABS module PID BOO_ABS indicate ON with the brake pedal pressed and OFF with the brake pedal released?
Yes
CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. If the DTC B1484 is retrieved, GO to C4.
No
GO to C3.
C3 CHECK CIRCUIT 810 (RD/LG) FOR OPEN
NOTE:
Make sure the brake pedal is released for this step.
- Disconnect: ABS Module C135.
- Press and hold the brake pedal.
- Measure the voltage between the ABS module C135 pin 6, circuit 810 (RD/LG), harness side and the ABS module C135 pin 12, circuit 57 (BK) harness side.
- Is voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to C4.
No
REPAIR circuit 810 (RD/LG) or circuit 57 (BK). CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
C4 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect all ABS module connectors.
- Check for the following:
- Corrosion
- Puzzle out pins
- Connect all the ABS module connectors and make sure they are seated correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . CLEAR the DTCs.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
