Test L: All Temperature Controlled Seats Are Inoperative/Do Not Operate Correctly
WARNING:
Vehicle may be equipped with seatback-mounted air bags. Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving seat components. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.
CAUTION:
On models equipped with side air bags, Air Bag Simulator (40-009) MUST be connected to all air bag floor harness connectors. After diagnosis/repair, air bag simulator must be removed prior to operating vehicle.
NOTE:
For vehicles not equipped with climate control, see TEST I , TEST J and TEST K . Seats that are not temperature controlled have on/off switch for heat only.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Set temperature controlled seat switch to ZERO position, and tilt seat to rear. Measure voltage in Red/Black wire, by backprobing at temperature controlled seat module harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Black wire between battery junction box and temperature controlled seat module. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Measure voltage, by backprobing between Red/Black and Black wires at temperature controlled seat module harness connector. See Fig 1. If battery voltage exists, repair open in White/Light Blue wire between central junction box and heated seat module. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black wire between temperature controlled seat module and ground. Ground point is located near fuel tank. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
