Test C: Adjustable Pedals Do Not Operate/Do Not Operate Correctly (Expedition Only)

Allow adjustable pedals motor to cool for two minutes. Attempt to operate the adjustable pedals motor. If motor can be heard operating, go to next step. If motor cannot be heard operating, go to step 6.
Ensure the adjustable pedals motor is properly installed. If motor is properly installed, go to next step. If motor is not properly installed, repair or replace as necessary and test system operation. See ADJUSTABLE PEDALS MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Disconnect brake pedal-to-accelerator pedal cable. Operate the adjustable pedals control switch. If brake pedal moves, replace accelerator pedal assembly and test system operation. See ADJUSTABLE ACCELERATOR PEDAL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If brake pedal does not move, go to next step.
Check for dirt or any material which could be causing the motor to bind. If any material is found, clean motor and test system operation. If no material is found, go to next step.
Remove adjustable pedals motor. Inspect both ends of the adjustable pedals motor cable for damage or excessive wear. If any damage or wear is found, replace adjustable pedals assembly motor cable and test system operation. See ADJUSTABLE PEDALS MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If no damage or wear is found, replace adjustable pedals assembly motor and test system operation.
Disconnect adjustable pedals switch harness connector C290. Measure voltage between harness connector C290 terminal No. 2 (Dark Green wire) and ground. See Figure. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check fuse No. 112 (30-amp). If fuse is okay, repair open in Dark Green wire and test system operation. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and test system operation. If fuse blows again, repair short to ground in Dark Green wire.
Measure resistance between harness connector C290 terminals No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 (all Black wires) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms at all wires, go to next step. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and test system operation.
Using a 10-amp fused jumper wires, connect adjustable pedals switch harness connector C290 terminals No. 2 (Dark Green wire) and No. 7 (Red wire). Also connect harness connector terminals No. 2 (Dark Green wire) and No. 1 (White wire). See Figure. If adjustable pedals motor runs, replace adjustable pedals motor switch and test system operation. See ADJUSTABLE PEDALS CONTROL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If adjustable pedals motor does not run, go to next step.
Measure voltage between harness connector C290 terminals No. 1 (White wire) and No. 7 (Red wire) and ground. See Figure. If any voltage present at either terminal, repair short to voltage in appropriate wire and test system operation. If no voltage is present at both terminals, go to next step.
Measure resistance between harness connector C290 terminals No. 1 (White wire) and No. 7 (Red wire) and ground. See Figure. If both resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If either resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground on appropriate wire.
Connect adjustable pedals motor switch connector C290. Disconnect adjustable pedals motor connector C2001. Measure resistance between harness connector C2001 terminals No. 5 (White wire) and No. 6 (Red wire), and ground. See Figure. If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace adjustable pedals motor assembly and test system operation. See ADJUSTABLE PEDALS MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If any resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire and test system operation.
