Test G: Parking Aid Module (PAM) Does Not Respond To NGS Tester

NOTE: After making any repair, perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Parking Aid Module (PAM) 26-pin connector C439, located under right rear interior trim panel. Inspect PAM connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair as necessary. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
  2. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between PAM connector C439 terminal No. 5 and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 7. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to step  4.
  3. Connect PAM connector. Perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If PAM module responds to NGS tester, system is functioning properly. If PAM module does not respond to NGS tester, replace PAM module. See PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in PARKING AID SYSTEMS - EXPEDITION & NAVIGATOR article.
  4. Disconnect and inspect both halves of in-line Black 66-pin connector C201, located behind left side of instrument panel. See Figure. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair as necessary. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  5. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between DLC connector terminal No. 7 and in-line 66-pin connector C201 terminal No. 11 (male half). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between PAM and female half of in-line connector C201. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between male half of in-line connector C201 and DLC.
