Test A: 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS) Module Does Not Respond To NGS Tester
NOTE:
After making any repair, perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS) module Black 24-pin connector C146. Inspect 4WABS connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair as necessary. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
- Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between 4WABS module connector C146 terminal No. 1 and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 7. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to step 4.
- Connect 4WABS module connector. Perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If 4WABS module responds to NGS tester, system is functioning properly. If 4WABS module does not respond to NGS tester, replace 4WABS module. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
- Disconnect and inspect both halves of bulkhead Gray 40-pin connector C160, located at left rear of engine compartment. See Fig 2. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, go to next step.
- Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and bulkhead Gray connector C160 (female half) terminal No. 29. See Figure and Fig 3 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between male half of bulkhead Gray connector C160 and 4WABS module. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between DLC and female half of bulkhead Gray connector C160.
