Test D: Alarm System Does Not Arm Or Disarm Using Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter Or Keyless Entry Keypad
NOTE:
After any repairs are complete, ensure all component are properly installed and all harness connectors are connected properly.
- Ensure all doors are locked. Press UNLOCK button on remote transmitter. If courtesy lights illuminate, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not illuminate, repair courtesy lights. See AUTOLAMP SYSTEMS - CONTINENTAL article.
- Lock and unlock all doors using keyless entry keypad and remote transmitter. If door locks operate properly, go to next step. If door locks do not operate properly, repair power door locks. See POWER DOOR LOCKS & REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS - CONTINENTAL article.
- Turn ignition on. Ensure all doors are fully closed. Turn ignition off. Open and close the driver's door. Remove key from ignition switch. Press LOCK button on remote transmitter and note operation of THEFT indicator. If THEFT indicator illuminates for 30 seconds and then goes off, go to next step. If THEFT indicator does not illuminate for 30 seconds and then go off, replace DDM. See DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE (DDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation. If system is still inoperative, replace LCM.
- Turn ignition on. Ensure all doors are fully closed. Turn ignition off. Open and close the driver's door. Remove key from ignition switch. Lock doors using keyless entry keypad and note operation of THEFT indicator. If THEFT indicator illuminates for 30 seconds and then goes off, system is okay at this time. If THEFT indicator does not illuminate for 30 seconds and then go off, replace DDM and retest system operation. If system is still inoperative, replace LCM.
