Test A: 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS) Module Does Not Respond To NGS Tester

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 4WABS module Black 24-pin connector, located in left front corner of engine compartment. See Fig 1. Disconnect NGS tester. Inspect 4WABS connector and Data Link Connector (DLC) for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
  2. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 5 at 4WABS module connector and terminal No. 7 at DLC. See Figure and Fig 1 If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to step 4).
  3. Reconnect 4WABS module connector and NGS tester. Perform data link diagnostic procedure. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS. If 4WABS module responds to NGS tester, system is functioning properly. If 4WABS module does not respond to NGS tester, replace 4WABS module and retest system for normal operation.
  4. Disconnect and inspect both halves of bulkhead 40-pin Gray connector C160 located at left rear of engine compartment. See Fig 2. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Rep air connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  5. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 5 at 4WABS module connector and terminal No. 29 at bulkhead 40-pin connector (male half). See Fig 1 and Fig 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between female half of bulkhead 40-pin connector and DLC. Retest system for normal operation. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between 4WABS module connector and male half of bulkhead 40-pin connector. Retest system for normal operation.
