Distributor R & I - 5.8L MCU

  1. Remove distributor cap. Disconnect and plug diaphragm assembly hoses. Disconnect distributor wiring from harness. Rotate engine to align timing marks on TDC of compression stroke.
  2. Note position of rotor and scribe a mark on distributor body for installation reference. Note position of armature to stator assembly. Remove distributor hold-down bolt and clamp. Remove distributor. DO NOT rotate engine while distributor is removed. To install, reverse removal procedure. Set base ignition timing. See appropriate ADJUSTMENTS article in this section.
