Removal [10/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [10/2017 - 09/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [09/2018 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [09/2019 - 10/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [10/2020 - 11/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [11/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12 [10/2023 - ]

  2. REMOVE RADIATOR COVER PLATE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [10/2017 - 10/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [10/2020 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [10/2023 - ]

  3. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [10/2017 - 10/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [10/2020 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [10/2023 - ]

  4. REMOVE LOWER RADIATOR AIR DEFLECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [10/2017 - 10/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [10/2020 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [10/2023 - ]

  5. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 1) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.

      NOTE:
      • If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
      • Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
  6. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) 
    1. Detach the 2 clamps.

    2. Remove the nut to disconnect the engine wire.
    3. Remove the 4 bolts and wiring harness clamp bracket.
    4. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    5. Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    6. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.

      NOTE:
      • If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
      • Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
