Adjustment [10/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. PREPARATION 

    Refer to INSPECTION [10/2023 - ]

  2. ADJUST STANDARD VEHICLE HEIGHT (w/ Air Suspension) 

    See step  2

  3. MEASURE VEHICLE HEIGHT 

    Refer to ADJUSTMENT [10/2023 - ] 

  4. INSPECT CAMBER 

    Check the values in the top table.

    Refer to CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT 

  5. INSPECT TOE-IN 
    1. Bounce the vehicle up and down at the corners to stabilize the suspension.
    2. Release the parking brake and move the shift lever to N.
    3. Push the vehicle straight ahead approximately 5 m (16.4 ft.). (Step A)
    4. Put tread center marks on the rearmost points of the rear wheels and measure the distance between the marks (dimension B).

    5. Slowly push the vehicle straight ahead to cause the rear wheels to rotate 180°. Use the rear tire valve as a reference point.

      HINT: 

      Do not allow the wheels to rotate more than 180°. If the wheels rotate more than 180°, perform the procedure from step A again.

    6. Measure the distance between the tread center marks on the front of the rear wheels (dimension A).

      Check the values in the top table.

      HINT: 

      Measure "B - A" only when "C + D" cannot be measured.

  6. ADJUST TOE-IN (w/o Dynamic Rear Steering)

      Loosen the nut of the toe control link sub-assembly (on the rear suspension member sub-assembly side).

      NOTE:

      Hold the toe adjust cam sub-assembly while rotating the nut.

      Rotate the toe adjust cam sub-assembly to adjust the toe-in.

    3. Tighten the nut of the toe control link sub-assembly (on the rear suspension member sub-assembly side).

      Torque: 78 N.m (795 kgf/cm, 58 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Hold the toe adjust cam sub-assembly while rotating the nut.

  7. ADJUST TOE-IN (w/ Dynamic Rear Steering) 
    NOTE:

    If any underbody rear suspension parts are removed and installed, replaced or adjusted, the steering wheel may become off center.

    Therefore, perform neutral point memorization and motor rotation angle sensor calibration.

    1. Adjustment the rear toe.

      Refer to UTILITY [10/2023 - ]

    2. Make sure that the thread length of the right and left steering rack ends are approximately the same.

      Standard Difference

      1.5 mm (0.059 in.) or less

    3. Remove the steering rack boot clips.
    4. Loosen the tie rod assembly lock nuts.
    5. Turn the right and left steering rack ends by an equal amount to adjust the toe-in.
    6. Make sure that the thread length of the right and left steering rack ends are the same.
    7. Using SST, tighten the tie rod assembly lock nuts.
      • SST: 09612-24014 
        1. 09617-24011
      NOTE:

      Temporarily tighten the lock nut while holding the hexagonal part of the steering rack end so that the lock nut and the steering rack end do not turn together.

      Hold the width across flat of the tie rod end and tighten the lock nut.

      Specified tightening torque 

      Torque: 55 N.m (561 kgf/cm, 41 ft.lbf) 

      HINT: 

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

        Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2023 - ]

      • When using SST (fulcrum length of 51 mm (2.008 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 255 mm (10.039 in.)): 45.8 N.m (467 kgf/cm, 34 ft.lbf)

    8. Place the steering rack boots on the seats and install the steering rack boot clips.

      HINT: 

      • Make sure that the steering rack boots are not twisted.
      • Make sure that the steering rack boot clips are facing towards the front of the vehicle.
  8. INSPECT REAR SUSPENSION

      A: 629.5 mm (24.783 in.)

      B: 582.7 mm (22.941 in.)

      357.2 +/-0.46 mm (14.063 +/-0.018 in.)

    3. Rear No. 2 suspension arm

  9. REPLACE REAR SUSPENSION ARM ATTACHMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. When rear suspension member is not replaced:

      *a Stamping Position
      *b Dimension A
      1. Use the same stamping No. as the parts that were removed from the left and right side of the vehicle.
    2. When rear suspension member is replaced:
      1. Use stamping A for the parts that were removed from the left and right side of the vehicle.

  10. INSPECT VEHICLE HEIGHT CONTROL (w/ Air Suspension) 
    1. Check the vehicle height control operation.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [12/2017 - ]

    2. After the inspection is completed, return the settings to the recorded values.
