Installation [04/2013 - 08/2015]: Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 27 other vehicles, including the 2024 Lexus IS 500, 2024 Lexus IS 350, 2024 Lexus IS 300, 2023 Lexus IS 500, and 2023 Lexus IS 350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR 
    1. Insert the connector and grommet of the rear speed sensor into the inside of the vehicle through the hole in the wheel house.

      *A for LH Side *B for RH Side

      *c Band Clamp *d Grommet Installation Range
      Outside of Vehicle Top of Vehicle
      NOTE:

      Make sure the band clamp remains on the outside of the vehicle.

    2. Hold the tube of the grommet and pull it toward the outside of the vehicle, then secure the grommet to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:
      • When pulling out the grommet, do not grip the sensor wire.
      • Secure the grommet in place within the range shown in the illustration.
    3. Install the 2 sensor clamps with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 6.0 N.m (61 kgf/cm, 53 in.lbf) 

      NOTE:

      Do not twist the rear speed sensor wire harness when installing it.

    4. Return the rear wheel house liner to its original position.
    5. Install the 2 sensor clamps and rear speed sensor to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly and rear upper control arm assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 8.5 N.m (87 kgf/cm, 75 in.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the rear speed sensor tip.
      • Firmly insert the rear speed sensor body into the rear axle carrier sub-assembly before tightening the bolt.
      • After installing the rear speed sensor to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly, make sure that there is no clearance between the rear speed sensor stay and rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Also make sure that no foreign matter is stuck between the parts.
      • Do not twist the rear speed sensor wire harness when installing it.
    6. Connect the connector on the inside of the vehicle.
      NOTE:

      Do not twist the rear speed sensor wire harness when installing it.

    7. Return the luggage compartment trim cover to its original position.
  2. INSTALL REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER 
    1. Install the rear wheel house liner with the 2 nuts.
  3. INSTALL REAR WHEEL 

    Torque: 103 N.m (1050 kgf/cm, 76 ft.lbf) 

  4. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER 
    1. Install the luggage compartment trim cover with the 3 clips (B).

    2. for LH Side:
      1. Install the clip (A).
    3. Install a new clip (C).
    4. Install the rope hook assembly with the bolt.
    5. Engage the 2 claws to close the cover.
  5. INSTALL FRONT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER (for Fixed Seat Type) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  6. INSTALL FRONT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER (for Fold Down Seat Type) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  7. INSTALL REAR LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  8. INSTALL DECK SIDE TRIM BOX RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  9. INSTALL DECK SIDE TRIM BOX LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  10. INSTALL SPARE WHEEL COVER TRAY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  11. INSTALL SPARE WHEEL COVER TRAY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  12. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20

  13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [06/2014 - 08/2015]

  14. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE [04/2013 - 10/2016]
