Skid Control Buzzer Circuit: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (DSS SIGNAL BUZZER) 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Active Test.
      ABS/VSC/TRAC

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      DSS Signal Buzzer Skid control buzzer Buzzer ON/OFF The buzzer can be heard.
    6. Check that the skid control buzzer sounds/stops when turning the skid control buzzer on/off by using the Techstream.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Buzzer does not sound or sounds constantly A
      Buzzer sounds/stops B

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (IG1) 
    1. Disconnect the A9 skid control buzzer connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      STANDARD VOLTAGE

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A9-2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Skid Control Buzzer)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT SKID CONTROL BUZZER 
    1. Remove the skid control buzzer. Refer to REMOVAL [06/2012 - ] .
    2. Apply battery voltage to the skid control buzzer, and check that the buzzer sounds.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) voltage - Terminal 2 Skid control buzzer sounds
      Battery negative (-) voltage - Terminal 1
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Skid Control Buzzer)

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL BUZZER - SKID CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the A7 skid control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the A9 skid control buzzer connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A7-30 (BZ) - A9-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      A7-30 (BZ) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [06/2012 - ] 
  6. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [06/2012 - ] 
  7. REPLACE SKID CONTROL BUZZER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2012 - ]
