Clutch Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. INSPECT ECM (CLSW TERMINAL) 
    1. Disconnect the A5 connector from the ECM.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-9 (CLSW) - Body ground Clutch pedal depressed Below 1 V
      Clutch pedal released 10 to 14 V

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   4 

  2. INSPECT CLUTCH SWITCH 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the A21 connector from the clutch switch.
    3. Remove the clutch switch.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Switch pin free
      (Clutch pedal depressed)
      10 kΩ or higher
      Switch pin pushed in
      (Clutch pedal released)
      Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - CLUTCH SWITCH) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-9 (CLSW) - A21-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      A5-9 (CLSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BATTERY - CLUTCH SWITCH) 

  4. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  5. REPLACE CLUTCH SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL
