DTC Check / Clear

  1. DTC CHECK/CLEAR (WHEN USING TECHSTREAM)
    1. DTC check
      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      3. Read the DTCs following the prompts on the tester screen.
    2. DTC clear
      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      3. Operate the Techstream to clear the codes.

        HINT:

Refer to the Techstream operator's service information for further details.

  2. DTC CHECK/CLEAR (WHEN USING SST CHECK WIRE)
    1. DTC check

      1. Using SST, connect terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3.
        • SST: 09843-18040
      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      3. Read DTC from the ABS warning light, brake warning light / yellow (minor malfunction), slip indicator light and brake hold standby indicator light on the combination meter and multi-information display.

        HINT:

        • When the system is normal, the relevant light turns on for 0.25 seconds and off for 0.25 seconds and repeats this pattern.
        • When only 1 DTC is stored, the relevant light outputs the same code after an interval of 4 seconds. Example: When DTC 42 is stored, the light blinks 4 times, turns off for 1.5 seconds, blinks twice, turns off for 4 seconds, and then repeats this output pattern.
        • When 2 or more DTCs are stored, the relevant light outputs the codes with an interval of 2.5 seconds between each different code, and the output of all codes repeats after an interval of 4 seconds.
        • If no code appears, inspect the TC and CG terminal circuit, ABS and brake warning light / yellow (minor malfunction) warning light circuits and brake hold standby and slip indicator light circuits.
        Trouble Area See procedure
TC and CG terminal circuit Refer to TC and CG Terminal Circuit
ABS warning light circuit (light remains on) Refer to ABS Warning Light Remains ON
ABS warning light circuit (light does not come on) Refer to ABS Warning Light does not Come ON
Brake warning light / yellow (minor malfunction) circuit (light remains on) Refer to Brake Control Warning Light Remains ON
Brake warning light / yellow (minor malfunction) circuit (light does not come on) Refer to Brake Control Warning Light does not Come ON
Slip indicator light circuit Refer to Slip Indicator Light Circuit
Brake hold standby indicator light circuit Refer to Brake Hold Standby Indicator Light Circuit
      4. The codes are explained in the code table. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
      5. After completing the check, disconnect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3, and turn the display off.

If 2 or more DTCs are detected at the same time, the DTCs will be displayed in ascending order.

    2. DTC clear
      1. Using SST, connect terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3.

        • SST: 09843-18040
      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      3. Clear the DTCs stored in the ECU by depressing the brake pedal 8 times or more within 5 seconds.

      4. Check that the ABS warning light, brake warning light / yellow (minor malfunction), slip indicator light, brake hold standby indicator light and multi-information display indicate the normal system code.
      5. Remove SST from the terminals of the DLC3.

        HINT:

Clearing the DTCs cannot be performed by removing the battery cable or the ECU-IG fuse.

  3. END OF DTC CHECK/CLEAR (WHEN USING SST CHECK WIRE)
    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    2. Check that the ABS warning light, brake warning light / yellow (minor malfunction), slip indicator light and brake hold standby indicator light illuminate. After the engine is started, check that they turn off.
