Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK RADIO RECEIVER 
    1. Reconnect the L52 receiver connector.
    2. Using an oscilloscope, check the signal waveform between each terminal and the body ground according to the conditions, as shown in the chart below.

      Signal waveform 

      SIGNAL WAVEFORM REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R32-20 (L4-) - Body ground Audio sound is being produced A waveform synchronized with sound is output
      R32-21 (L4+) - Body ground Audio sound is being produced A waveform synchronized with sound is output
      R32-22 (R4-) - Body ground Audio sound is being produced A waveform synchronized with sound is output
      R32-23 (R4+) - Body ground Audio sound is being produced A waveform synchronized with sound is output

      NG: REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER (See  REMOVAL   ) 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  2. CHECK SATELLITE RADIO TUNER AND/OR DISC PLAYER 
    1. Check if the satellite radio tuner and/or disc player are equipped on the vehicle.

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      w/o Satellite radio tuner, w/o disc player A
      w/ Satellite radio tuner, w/o disc player B
      w/o Satellite radio tuner, w/ disc player C
      w/ Satellite radio tuner, w/ disc player D

      B:  Go to step  4

      C:  Go to step  7

      D:  Go to step  10

      A: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER) 
    1. Disconnect the L52 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the R32 controller connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L52-14 (RSLD) - R32-24 (SLD4) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-15 (R-R+) - R32-23 (R4+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-16 (R-R-) - R32-22 (R4-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-17 (R-L+) - R32-21 (L4+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-18 (R-L-) - R32-20 (L4-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R32-23 (R4+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R32-22 (R4-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R32-21 (L4+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R32-20 (L4-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER (See  REMOVAL   ) 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - SATELLITE RADIO TUNER) 
    1. Disconnect the L52 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the R29 tuner connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L52-14 (RSLD) - R29-16 (SLD4) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-15 (R-R+) - R29-17 (RRI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-16 (R-R-) - R29-18 (RRI-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-17 (R-L+) - R29-19 (RLI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-18 (R-L-) - R29-20 (RLI-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-15 (R-R+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L52-16 (R-R-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L52-17 (R-L+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L52-18 (R-L-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SATELLITE RADIO TUNER - MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER) 
    1. Disconnect the R29 tuner connector.
    2. Disconnect the R32 controller connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R29-1 (SLD3) - R32-24 (SLD4) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-2 (RLO-) - R32-20 (L4-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-3 (RLO+) - R32-21 (L4+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-4 (RRO-) - R32-22 (R4-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-5 (RRO+) - R32-23 (R4+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R32-20 (L4-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R32-21 (L4+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R32-22 (R4-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R32-23 (R4+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  6. REPLACE SATELLITE RADIO TUNER WITH NORMAL ONE AND CHECK 
    1. Replace the satellite radio tuner with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again (see REMOVAL  ).

      OK: 

      Same problem does not occur. 

      NG: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER (See  REMOVAL   ) 

      OK: END (SATELLITE RADIO TUNER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - DISC PLAYER) 
    1. Disconnect the L52 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the R16 player connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L52-14 (RSLD) - R16-19 (SLD1) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-15 (R-R+) - R16-20 (R2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-16 (R-R-) - R16-21 (R2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-17 (R-L+) - R16-22 (L2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-18 (R-L-) - R16-23 (L2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-15 (R-R+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L52-16 (R-R-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L52-17 (R-L+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L52-18 (R-L-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISC PLAYER - MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER) 
    1. Disconnect the R16 player connector.
    2. Disconnect the R32 controller connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R16-13 (L-) - R32-20 (L4-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R16-12 (L+) - R32-21 (L4+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R16-11 (R-) - R32-22 (R4-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R16-10 (R+) - R32-23 (R4+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R16-9 (SLD) - R32-24 (SLD4) Always Below 1 Ω
      R32-20 (L4-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R32-21 (L4+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R32-22 (R4-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R32-23 (R4+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  9. REPLACE DISC PLAYER WITH NORMAL ONE AND CHECK 
    1. Replace the disc player with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again (see REMOVAL  ).

      OK: 

      Same problem does not occur. 

      NG: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER (See  REMOVAL   ) 

      OK: END (DISC PLAYER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - SATELLITE RADIO TUNER) 
    1. Disconnect the L52 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the R29 tuner connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L52-14 (RSLD) - R29-16 (SLD4) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-15 (R-R+) - R29-17 (RRI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-16 (R-R-) - R29-18 (RRI-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-17 (R-L+) - R29-19 (RLI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-18 (R-L-) - R29-20 (RLI-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L52-15 (R-R+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L52-16 (R-R-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L52-17 (R-L+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SATELLITE RADIO TUNER - DISC PLAYER) 
    1. Disconnect the R29 tuner connector.
    2. Disconnect the R16 player connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R29-1 (SLD3) - R16-19 (SLD1) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-2 (RLO-) - R16-23 (L2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-3 (RLO+) - R16-22 (L2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-4 (RRO-) - R16-21 (R2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-5 (RRO+) - R16-20 (R2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-2 (RLO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R29-3 (RLO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R29-4 (RRO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R29-5 (RRO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISC PLAYER - MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER) 
    1. Disconnect the R16 player connector.
    2. Disconnect the R32 controller connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R16-13 (L-) - R32-20 (L4-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R16-12 (L+) - R32-21 (L4+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R16-11 (R-) - R32-22 (R4-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R16-10 (R+) - R32-23 (R4+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R16-9 (SLD) - R32-24 (SLD4) Always Below 1 Ω
      R32-20 (L4-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to Next Step 

  13. REPLACE SATELLITE RADIO TUNER WITH NORMAL ONE AND CHECK 
    1. Replace the satellite radio tuner with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again (see REMOVAL  ).

      OK: 

      Same problem does not occur. 

      NG: Go to step 14 

      OK: END (SATELLITE RADIO TUNER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  14. REPLACE DISC PLAYER WITH NORMAL ONE AND CHECK 
    1. Replace the disc player with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again (see REMOVAL  ).

      OK: 

      Same problem does not occur. 

      NG: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER (See  REMOVAL   ) 

      OK: END (DISC PLAYER IS DEFECTIVE)
