Distance Control Switch Circuit: Procedure
- INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Remove the steering pad switch assembly.
- Measure the resistance of the switch cable connector.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition C-4 (DIST) - C-6 (ECC) Distance control switch ON Below 2.5 Ω C-4 (DIST) - C-6 (ECC) Distance control switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the spiral cable connectors.
- Measure the resistance of the spiral cable connectors.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Specified Condition C-4 (DIST) - K20-11 (DIST) Below 1 Ω C-6 (ECC) - K20-2 (ECC) Below 1 Ω
NG → REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU - SPIRAL CABLE AND BODY GROUND)

- Disconnect the K13 ECU connector.
- Disconnect the K20 spiral cable connector.
- Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Specified Condition K20-11 (DIST) - K13-16 (MODE) Below 1 Ω K13-16 (MODE) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - BODY GROUND)

- Disconnect the K20 spiral cable connector.
- Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Specified Condition K20-2 (ECC) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK DISTANCE CONTROL ECU
- Remove the distance control ECU with the connector.
- Turn the power switch ON (IG).
- Measure the voltage of the connector.
Standard voltage
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition K13-16 (MODE) - Body ground Distance control switch ON Below 2 V K13-16 (MODE) - Body ground Distance control switch OFF 9 to 16 V
NG → REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU
OK → See step 6
