    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance of the switch cable connector.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C-4 (DIST) - C-6 (ECC) Distance control switch ON Below 2.5 Ω
C-4 (DIST) - C-6 (ECC) Distance control switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher

NG → REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    OK: Go to next step

  2. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
Fig 2: Identifying Spiral Cable Sub-Assembly

    1. Disconnect the spiral cable connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the spiral cable connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C-4 (DIST) - K20-11 (DIST) Below 1 Ω
      C-6 (ECC) - K20-2 (ECC) Below 1 Ω

NG → REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    OK: Go to next step

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU - SPIRAL CABLE AND BODY GROUND)
Fig 3: Identifying K13 ECU Connector And K20 Connector

    1. Disconnect the K13 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the K20 spiral cable connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K20-11 (DIST) - K13-16 (MODE) Below 1 Ω
K13-16 (MODE) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - BODY GROUND)

    GTY152062Courtesy of © TOYOTA, LICENSE AGREEMENT TMS1002
    1. Disconnect the K20 spiral cable connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K20-2 (ECC) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step

  5. CHECK DISTANCE CONTROL ECU
Fig 5: Identifying Distance Control ECU
    GTY131632Courtesy of © TOYOTA, LICENSE AGREEMENT TMS1002
    1. Remove the distance control ECU with the connector.
    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage of the connector.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
K13-16 (MODE) - Body ground Distance control switch ON Below 2 V
K13-16 (MODE) - Body ground Distance control switch OFF 9 to 16 V

NG → REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU

    OK → See step   6

  6. PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
