Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR) 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the outer rear view mirror.

      Driver side junction block (driver side junction block ECU) 

      DATA LIST REFERENCE

      Item Measurement Item/ display (Range) Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      MIRR SEL SW R Mirror selection switch signal for RH mirror/ ON or OFF ON: Switch is in R position
      OFF: Switch is in neutral or L position
      -
      MIRR SEL SW L Mirror selection switch signal for LH mirror/ ON or OFF ON: Switch is in L position
      OFF: Switch is in neutral or R position
      -
      MIRR POS SW R Mirror position switch signal (RIGHT)/ ON or OFF ON: RIGHT switch is ON
      OFF: Any switch except RIGHT is ON or all switches are OFF
      -
      MIRR POS SW L Mirror position switch signal (LEFT)/ ON or OFF ON: LEFT switch is ON
      OFF: Any switch except LEFT is ON or all switches are OFF
      -
      MIRR POS SW UP Mirror position switch signal (UP)/ ON or OFF ON: UP switch is ON
      OFF: Any switch except UP is ON or all switches are OFF
      -
      MIRR POS SW DWN Mirror position switch signal (DOWN)/ ON or OFF ON: DOWN switch is ON
      OFF: Any switch except DOWN is ON or all switches are OFF
      -

      OK: On tester screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart. 

    OK: REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK 

    NG: Go to Next step 

  2. INSPECT OUTER MIRROR SWITCH (MIRROR MASTER SWITCH AND MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH)

    1. Select L or R on the mirror master switch.
    2. Measure the resistance of the switch.

      Standard resistance: 

      Mirror master switch 

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      8 (MSW) - 9 (E) L 100 Ω
      8 (MSW) - 9 (E) R Below 1 Ω
      8 (MSW) - 9 (E) OFF 10 kΩ or higher

      Mirror control switch 

      MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      7 (M+) - 9 (E) UP Approx. 100 Ω
      7 (M+) - 9 (E) RIGHT 250 Ω
      7 (M+) - 9 (E) DOWN 470 Ω
      7 (M+) - 9 (E) LEFT 800 Ω
      7 (M+) - 9 (E) OFF 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE OUTER MIRROR SWITCH 

    OK: Go to Next step 

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (OUTER MIRROR SWITCH [MIRROR MASTER SWITCH AND MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH] - ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the R4 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the D5 ECU connector.

    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      R4-7 (M+) - D5-11 (M+) Below 1 Ω
      R4-8 (MSW) - D5-10 (MSW) Below 1 Ω
      R4-9 (E) - D5-7 (R/E) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK (DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)
