Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTUATOR CHECK (LAP-JET DAMPER POSITION) 
    1. Enter actuator check mode (see ACTUATOR CHECK  ).
    2. Press the UP driver temperature switch to change to the step operation.
    3. Press the UP driver temperature switch to check the lap-jet damper servo operation.
      DISPLAY CODE CHART

      Display Code Lap-jet Damper Position
      0 CLOSE
      1 CLOSE
      2 CLOSE
      3 CLOSE
      4 CLOSE
      5 CLOSE
      6 CLOSE
      7 OPEN
      8 OPEN
      9 CLOSE

      OK: Lap-jet damper position changes in accordance with each display code. 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    NG: Go to next step. 

  2. INSPECT FUSE (HEATER) 
    1. Remove the HEATER fuse from the driver side junction block.
    2. Measure the resistance of the fuse.

      Standard resistance: Below 1 Ω 

    NG: REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  3. INSPECT DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY (LAP-JET)

    1. Remove the damper servo.
    2. Apply battery voltage to the servo and check that the servo rotates smoothly.

      OK 

      MEASUREMENT CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Measurement Connection Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 3
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      Lever turns to OPEN position
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 3
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 2
      Lever turns to CLOSE position

    NG: REPLACE DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY (LAP-JET) 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (DAMPER SERVO - A/C AMPLIFIER AND BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the A15 servo connector.
    2. Disconnect the A8 amplifier connector.

    3. Measure voltage and resistance of the wire harness connector.

      Standard voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A15-3 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10 to 14 V

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A15-1 - A8-7 (FT2OP) Below 1 Ω
      A15-2 - A8-18 (FT2CL) Below 1 Ω
      A15-1 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      A15-2 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY
