Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester or Techstream Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2119)
    1. Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG).
    3. Turn the tester ON
    4. Enter the following menus:
      1. Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.
      2. Techstream - Select Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes
    5. Read DTCs.

B: GO TO DTC CHART  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    A: Go to next step

  2. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2119)
    1. Put the engine in inspection mode (see INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE )
    2. Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the tester ON.
    4. Clear DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR )

      2. Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    8. Read the DTCs.

      OK: No DTC output.

      HINT:

The output voltage of the throttle position sensor can be checked using the tester. Variations in the output voltage indicate that the throttle actuator is in operation. To check the output voltage using the tester, select the following menus:

      • Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST / ETCS / THROTTLE POS #1.
      • Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / ETCS / Throttle Position No. 1.
