VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM (w/ VDIM): Calibration
- DESCRIPTION
- After replacing the VSC relevant components or performing "Front wheel alignment adjustment", clear and read the sensor calibration data.
- Follow the chart to perform calibration.
CALIBRATION CHARTReplacing Parts / Operation Necessary Operation Skid Control ECU Yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration and system information storing Yaw Rate and Acceleration Sensor - Clearing zero point calibration data
- Yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration
Front Wheel Alignment Adjustment - Clearing zero point calibration data
- Yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration
- PERFORM YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION AND STORE SYSTEM INFORMATION (WHEN USING INTELLIGENT TESTER:) NOTE:
- Stored system information cannot be overwritten unless it is cleared. If any system information has already been stored, erase the stored information and then store new system information.
- While obtaining the zero point, do not vibrate the vehicle by tilting, moving or shaking it and keep it stationary. (Do not start the engine.)
- Be sure to do this on a level surface (with an inclination of less than 1 degree).
- Clear the zero point calibration data and system information.NOTE: Performing the following procedure will clear the zero point of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor, and also system information simultaneously.
- Turn the engine switch off.
- Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
- Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Operate the intelligent tester to erase the codes (select "RESET MEMORY").
HINT:
Refer to the intelligent tester operator's manual for further details.
- Turn the engine switch off.NOTE: If the vehicle is driven after the zero point of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor and system information is cleared, DTCs will be stored.
- Perform the yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration and store system information.NOTE: Performing the following procedure will perform the yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration, and also store system information simultaneously.
- Turn the engine switch off.
- Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position.NOTE:
- DTCs C1210/36 and C1336/98 will be recorded if the shift lever is not in the P position (See DTC C1210/36 ZERO POINT CALIBRATION OF YAW RATE SENSOR UNDONE; DTC C1336/98 ZERO POINT CALIBRATION OF ACCELERATION SENSOR UNDONE ).
- If a DTC is stored that indicates zero point calibration is incomplete, repeat the procedure starting at the step for clearing the zero point calibration data and system information.
- Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Set the intelligent tester to Test Mode (select "TEST MODE").
HINT:
Refer to the intelligent tester operator's manual for further details.
- After the Test Mode has been entered, keep the vehicle stationary on a level surface for 2 seconds or more.
- Check that the master caution indicator light blinks and "VSC TEST MODE" is displayed on the multi-information display (Test Mode).
HINT:
- If the master caution indicator light does not blink and/or "VSC TEST MODE" is not displayed on the multi-information display, perform zero point calibration again.
- The zero point calibration is performed only once after the system enters the Test Mode.
- Calibration cannot be performed again until the stored data is cleared once.
- Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the intelligent tester.
- PERFORM YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION AND STORE SYSTEM INFORMATION (WHEN USING SST CHECK WIRE:) NOTE:
- Stored system information cannot be overwritten unless it is cleared. If any system information has already been stored, erase the stored information and then store new system information.
- While obtaining the zero point, do not vibrate the vehicle by tilting, moving or shaking it and keep it stationary. (Do not start the engine.)

- Turn the engine switch off.
- Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- The warning light and indicator light come on for 3 seconds to indicate that the initial check is completed.
- Using SST, connect and disconnect terminals TS and CG of the DLC3 4 times or more within 8 seconds.
