Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK BACK-UP LIGHT 
    1. Move the shift lever to the R position.
    2. Check the back-up light.

    OK: The back-up light illuminates. 

    NG:  GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - ECU AND BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the P1 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the T23 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P1-1 (RL) - T23-3 (REV) Always Below 1 Ω
      P1-1 (RL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard voltage 

    VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    P1-2 (RB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON, shift lever in R position 11 to 14 V
    P1-2 (RB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON, shift lever in P position Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the P1 switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard resistance 

    RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    P1-1 (RL) - P1-2 (RB) Shift lever in R position Below 1 Ω
    P1-1 (RL) - P1-2 (RB) Shift lever in P position 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT INSPECTION PROCEDURE SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  )
