Camshaft Timing Oil Control Valve Assembly: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER (see  REMOVAL   ) 
  3. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 1 Exhaust Side) 
    1. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
    2. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.

  4. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 1 Intake Side) 
    1. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
    2. Remove the bolt and V-bank cover bracket.
    3. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
    4. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.

  5. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (see  REMOVAL   ) 
  6. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER (see  REMOVAL   ) 
  7. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  8. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH (see  REMOVAL   ) 
  9. REMOVE NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE (see  REMOVAL   ) 
  10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE (see  REMOVAL   ) 
  11. DISCONNECT WATER BYPASS HOSE (see  REMOVAL   ) 
  12. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER INLET HOSE (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  13. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSE (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  14. REMOVE ENGINE REAR COVER (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  15. DISCONNECT UNION TO CHECK VALVE HOSE (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  16. REMOVE VENTILATION HOSE (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  17. DISCONNECT COLD START INJECTOR (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  18. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  19. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 2 Intake Side) 
    1. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
    2. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.

  20. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 2 Exhaust Side) 
    1. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
    2. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.
