Inspection Procedure

  1. INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH OPERATION 
    1. Check that the stop lamp comes on while depressing the brake pedal, and goes off when releasing the brake pedal.

    NG: INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT (SEE  DTC C1249/49: OPEN CIRCUIT IN STOP LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT  ) 

    OK: Go To Next Step. 

  2. INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the stop lamp switch assy connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

    Standard: 

    TEST CONNECTION AND SPECIFIC CONDITION

    Tester connection Switch condition Specification
    S13-3 - S13-4 Switch pin free (Brake pedal depressed) 10 kΩ or higher
    S13-3 - S13-4 Switch pin pushed in (Brake pedal released) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY (SEE  BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT ASSY  )

    OK: Go To Next Step. 

  3. INSPECT ECM 
    1. Reconnect the stop lamp switch assy connector.
    2. Disconnect the E7 connector of the ECM.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIC CONDITION

      Tester connection Brake pedal condition Specification
      STP (E7-19) -Body ground Depressed 10 to 14V
      STP (E7-19) -Body ground Released Below 1V

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIC CONDITION

      Tester connection Brake pedal condition Specification
      ST1- (E7-12) -Body ground Depressed Below 1 V
      ST1- (E7-12) -Body ground Released 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY -ECM) 

    OK: REPLACE ECM (SEE  ECM (3MZ-FE)  )
