DTC Check/Clear

  1. CHECK DTC (USING HAND-HELD TESTER)
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Read the DTCs by following the directions on the tester screen.

    HINT:

Refer to the hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.

  2. CHECK DTC (NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER)
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    2. Using SST, connect terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3.

    3. Read DTCs by observing the MIL. If no DTC is detected, the tire pressure warning lamp flashes the pattern for the "Normal Code" shown in Fig 3.
    4. If DTCs 16 and 56 are detected, the warning lamp flashes the pattern for codes 16 and 56 shown in Fig 3. If the interval between the previous DTC and the next DTC is 4.5 seconds, it means the previous DTC is the last one of the multiple string of DTCs. The warning lamp repeats the indication of DTCs from the lowest numbered code.

    5. Check the details of the malfunction using the DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE  .
    6. After completing the check, disconnect terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) and turn off the display.
  3. CLEAR DTC (USING HAND-HELD TESTER)
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Erase the DTCs by following the directions on the tester's screen.

    HINT:

Refer to the hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.

  4. CLEAR DTC (NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER)
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    2. Using SST, connect terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3.

    3. Within 15 seconds after connecting terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG), change the switch between "MAIN" and "2nd" 4 cycles or more.
    4. Check that the blinking pattern of the tire pressure warning lamp shows the normal code.
    5. Disconnect terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG).

  5. IDENTIFY TRANSMITTER CORRESPONDING TO DTC (ERROR IN PRESENT)
    1. Set the inflation pressure of all tires to the normal set value.
    2. Rapidly reduce the pressure of one of the tires to 120 kPa (1.2 kgf/cm2 , 17 psi) and leave it as is for 30 seconds.

      HINT:

When rapidly reducing the tire inflation pressure, loosen the valve core.

    3. Check that the tire inflation pressure of one of the tires changes.

If the tire inflation pressure of one of the tires does not change, the tire in step ( b) was the cause of the DTC.

NOTE: When rapidly reducing another tire's inflation pressure, keep the pressure of the checked wheel(s) at 120 kPa (1.2 kgf/cm2 , 17 psi).

      HINT:

If the tire inflation pressure of one of the tires changes, repeat steps ( a) to ( c) above for the others tires.

  6. IDENTIFY TRANSMITTER CORRESPONDING TO DTC (ERROR IN PAST)

NOTE: When rapidly reducing another tire's inflation pressure, keep the pressure of the checked wheel(s) at 120 kPa (1.2 kgf/cm2 , 17 psi).
    4. Repeat steps ( a) to ( c) for the remaining tires and check for faulty tire pressure monitor valves.
