Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the outer mirror switches.

      Standard (Multiplex network body ECU): 

      DATA LIST REFERENCE

      Item Measurement Item/Display (Range) Normal Condition
      MIRR SEL SWITCH R Mirror selection switch signal for RH mirror/ON or OFF ON: Switch is in Right position
      MIRR SEL SWITCH R Mirror selection switch signal for RH mirror/ON or OFF OFF: Switch is in original or Left position
      MIRR SEL SWITCH L Mirror selection switch signal for LH mirror/ON or OFF ON: Switch is in Left position
      MIRR SEL SWITCH L Mirror selection switch signal for LH mirror/ON or OFF OFF: Switch is in original or Right position
      MIRR POS SWITCH R Mirror position switch signal (Right)/ON or OFF ON: Switch R is ON
      MIRR POS SWITCH R Mirror position switch signal (Right)/ON or OFF OFF: Any switch except R is ON or all switches are OFF
      MIRR POS SWITCH L Mirror position switch signal (Left)/ON or OFF ON: Switch L is ON
      MIRR POS SWITCH L Mirror position switch signal (Left)/ON or OFF OFF: Any switch except L is ON or all switches are OFF
      MIRR POS SWITCH UP Mirror position switch signal (Up)/ON or OFF ON: Switch UP is ON
      MIRR POS SWITCH UP Mirror position switch signal (Up)/ON or OFF OFF: Any switch except UP is ON or all switches are OFF
      MIRR POS SWITCH DOWN Mirror position switch signal (Down)/ON or OFF ON: Switch DOWN is ON
      MIRR POS SWITCH DOWN Mirror position switch signal (Down)/ON or OFF OFF: Any switch except DOWN is ON or all switches are OFF
    1. OK: Go to step   4 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  2. INSPECT OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY (See  INSPECTION  ) 
    1. NG: REPLACE OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY - MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) (See  REMOTE CONTROL MIRROR SWITCH CIRCUIT   ) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the outer rear view mirrors.

      Standard (OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU): 

      ACTIVE TEST REFERENCE

      Item Test Details
      MIRR UP/DOWN Mirror vertical operation UP/DOWN
      MIRR RIGHT/LEFT Mirror horizontal operation RIGHT/LEFT
    1. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSY 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  5. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY 
    1. LH:

      Inspect the outer rear view mirror.

      1. Disconnect the R23 mirror connector.
      2. Apply battery voltage and check operation of the mirror face.

        Standard (LH): 

        MIRROR FACE OPERATION REFERENCE (LH)

        Measurement Condition Mirror Operation
        Battery positive (+) --> R23-1 (LMVR) Battery negative (-) --> R23-10 (LM+R) Turns upward (A)
        Battery positive (+) --> R23-10 (LM+R) Battery negative (-) --> R23-1 (LMVR) Turns downward (B)
        Battery positive (+) --> R23-10 (LM+R) Battery negative (-) --> R23-9 (LMHR) Turns left (C)
        Battery positive (+) --> R23-9 (LMHR) Battery negative (-) --> R23-10 (LM+R) Turns right (D)

        If the result is not as specified, proceed to NG-A.

    2. RH:

      Inspect the outer rear view mirror.

      1. Disconnect the R24 mirror connector.
      2. Apply battery voltage and check operation of the mirror face.

        Standard (RH): 

        MIRROR FACE OPERATION REFERENCE (RH)

        Measurement Condition Mirror Operation
        Battery positive (+) --> R24-1 (RMVR) Battery negative (-) --> R24-10 (RM+R) Turns upward (A)
        Battery positive (+) --> R24-10 (RM+R) Battery negative (-) --> R24-1 (RMVR) Turns downward (B)
        Battery positive (+) --> R24-10 (RM+R) Battery negative (-) --> R24-9 (RMHR) Turns right (D)
        Battery positive (+) --> R24-9 (RMHR) Battery negative (-) --> R24-10 (RM+R) Turns left (C)

        If the result is not as specified, proceed to NG-B.

    1. NG-A: REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY LH 
    2. NG-B: REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY RH 
    3. OK: REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSY
