Inspection Procedure
- READ VALUE ON HAND-HELD TESTER
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Turn the hand-held tester on.
- Select the item below in the DATA LIST, and read the value displayed on the hand-held tester to check the interlock cable position sensor.
DATA LISTCondition Item Standard Steering lock is not activated INTLOCK CBL POS "UNLOCK" is displayed NG: REPLACE INTERLOCK CABLE POSITION SENSOR (SEE REPLACEMENT )
HINT:
Interlock cable position sensor is built in the steering lock ECU, and it is provided with the steering lock actuator.
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT INTERLOCK CABLE
- Check that the steering lock is locked.
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.NOTE: After the battery terminal is reconnected, it is necessary to initialize some systems (see INITIALIZATION ).
- Check if the interlock cable is disconnected or not by turning the starter switch to the ACC or ON position.
OK: The starter switch cannot be turned to the ACC or ON position.
NG: REPLACE INTERLOCK CABLE (SEE REPLACEMENT )
HINT:
Interlock cable is provided with the steering lock actuator.
OK: REPLACE STEERING LOCK ECU (SEE REPLACEMENT )

Steering lock ECU is provided with the steering lock actuator.
