Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE ON HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. Turn the hand-held tester on.
    4. Select the item below in the DATA LIST, and read the value displayed on the hand-held tester to check the interlock cable position sensor.
    DATA LIST

    Condition Item Standard
    Steering lock is not activated INTLOCK CBL POS "UNLOCK" is displayed

    NG: REPLACE INTERLOCK CABLE POSITION SENSOR (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 

    HINT:

    Interlock cable position sensor is built in the steering lock ECU, and it is provided with the steering lock actuator.

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT INTERLOCK CABLE 
    1. Check that the steering lock is locked.
    2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE: After the battery terminal is reconnected, it is necessary to initialize some systems (see INITIALIZATION ).
    3. Check if the interlock cable is disconnected or not by turning the starter switch to the ACC or ON position.

    OK: The starter switch cannot be turned to the ACC or ON position. 

    NG: REPLACE INTERLOCK CABLE (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 

    HINT:

    Interlock cable is provided with the steering lock actuator.

    OK: REPLACE STEERING LOCK ECU (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 

    HINT:

    Steering lock ECU is provided with the steering lock actuator.
