Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus LS 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

In case of using the LEXUS hand-held tester, start the inspection from step 1 and in case of not using the LEXUS hand-held tester, start from step  2.

  1. Check cruise control switch using LEXUS hand-held tester.

    PREPARATION:

Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to the DLC3.

    CHECK:

Check the cruise control switch using DATA LIST.

    1. OK : Proceed to next circuit inspection shown on problem symptom table (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).
    2. NG : Go to Next Steps.
  2. Check voltage between terminals CCS of ECM connector and body ground.

    PREPARATION:

    1. Remove the ECM with the connector still connected.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    CHECK:

Measure voltage between terminals CCS of ECM connector and body ground, when each of the SET/COAST, RESUME/ ACCEL and CANCEL is turned ON.

    VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

    Switch position Voltage (V)
    Neutral 10 - 16 V
    RES/ACC 2.4 - 3.8 V
    SET/COAST 4.7 - 6.9 V
    CANCEL 6.9 - 9.8 V

    1. OK : Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in problem symptoms table (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).
    2. NG : Go To next Steps.
  3. Check control switch continuity.

    PREPARATION:

    1. Remove the steering wheel center pad.
    2. Disconnect the control switch connector.

    CHECK:

Measure resistance between terminals 4 and 5 of the control switch connector when the control switch is operated.

    RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

    Switch position Resistance (Ω)
    Neutral "INFINITY" (No continuity)
    CRUISE 0 (Continuity)

    1. NG : Replace control switch.
    2. OK : Go To next Steps.
  4. Check MODE switch continuity.

    PREPARATION:

    1. Remove steering wheel center pad. (See REMOVAL )
    2. Disconnect the control switch connector.

    CHECK:

Check continuity between terminals 4 and 6 of control switch connector when main switch is held ON and OFF.
