Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and turn the hand-held tester switch on.
    3. Select the item below in the DATA LIST and read the display on the hand-held tester.

    BODY NO. 2 (DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ECU):

    OK: Condition sign can be displayed. 

    1. NG: Go to step   3 
    2. OK: Go to next step 
  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and turn the hand-held tester main switch on.
    3. Select the items below in the ACTIVE TEST and then check the stop lamp operation.

    BODY NO. 4 (LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ECU):

    OK: Each lamp comes on. 

    1. NG: Go to step   5 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (SEE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ) 
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the D3 connector from the driver side junction block.

      Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the figure Fig 3 below.

    Standard:

    1. NG: Go to step 4 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (SEE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ) 
  4. INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the figure Fig 5 below.

    Standard:

    1. NG: REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT) 
  5. INSPECT LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the figure Fig 7 below.

    HINT:

    Inspect the side the suspected malfunctioning part is on.

    Standard:

    1. NG: Go to step 6 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EACH OF STOP LAMP CIRCUIT) 
  6. INSPECT LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the figure Fig 9 below.

    HINT:

    Inspect the side the suspected malfunctioning part is on.

    Standard:

    1. NG: Go to step   9 
    2. OK: Go to next step 
  7. INSPECT LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the LA and LI connectors from the luggage room junction block assy.

    Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the figure Fig 11 below.

    Standard:

    1. NG: REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step 
  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the figure Fig 13 below.

    Standard:

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EACH OF STOP LAMP CIRCUIT) 
  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the figure Fig 15 below.

    Standard:

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
