Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the hand-held tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

  1. INSPECT ECM (FPR VOLTAGE) 
    1. Measure the voltage between the terminals of the E3 and E6 ECM connectors.

      Standard:

    1. NG: REPLACE ECM (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  2. INSPECT RELAY (F/PMP) 
    1. Remove the F/PMP relay from the engine room No.2 relay block (R/B).
    2. Measure the resistance.

      Standard:

    1. NG: REPLACE RELAY (F/PMP) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (F/PMP RELAY - ECM) 
    1. Remove the F/PMP relay from the engine room No.2 R/B.
    2. Disconnect the E6 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard:

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 

    REPLACE ECM (See  REPLACEMENT  )
