Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lexus RX 350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • When the distance control ECU is replaced with a new one, initialization must be performed (See ADJUSTMENT  ).
  • When the laser sensor is replaced with a new one, adjustment of the laser sensor beam axis must be performed (See ADJUSTMENT  ).
  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU - LASER SENSOR)
    1. Disconnect the distance control ECU connector and laser sensor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE TABLE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D2-22 (LRDD) - L1-3 (LRDD) Always Below 1 Ω
      D2-13 (IGB) - L1-5 (IGB) Always Below 1 Ω
D2-22 (LRDD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
D2-13 (IGB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to Next Step

  2. CHECK DISTANCE CONTROL ECU
    1. Reconnect the laser sensor connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE TABLE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D2-13 (IGB) - Body ground Ignition switch on 10 to 14 V
      D2-22 (LRDD) - Body ground Ignition switch on 4.5 to 5.5 V

    NG: REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU

    OK: Go to Next Step

  3. CHECK LASER SENSOR
    1. Reconnect the laser sensor connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE TABLE

      Tester connection Condition Specified Condition
      L1-5 (IGB) - Body ground Ignition switch on 10 to 14 V

    3. Check the signal waveform between terminal LRDD (L1-3) of the laser sensor and body ground.

      OK:

A waveform similar to that is output.

      HINT:

      • Gauge set: 2V/DIV., 10 ms./DIV.
      • Condition: Ignition switch on
