Monitor Description

The ECM monitor both the magnetic clutch current and the throttle position sensor to confirm proper operation of the throttle motor and magnetic clutch. If the clutch current is out of range, the ECM will interpret this as malfunction of the magnetic clutch. If the throttle position sensor value does not change when the throat motor is operated, the ECM will conclude that the magnetic clutch is "stuck".

If the ECM detects a malfunction in the magnetic clutch, it will:

• Illuminate the MIL and set a DTC.
• Disconnect the electrical supply to the throttle motor.
• Disengage the magnetic clutch (With the magnetic clutch disengaged, the throttle motor is disconnected from the throttle valve).
