Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Check that the brake warning light comes on when the parking brake is applied and goes off when it is released.

      OK: The brake warning light operates as specified above. 

    1. OK: Go to step   3 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the parking brake switch assy.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY RESISTANCE .

      Standard: 

    PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY RESISTANCE

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    Switch connector - Switch body ON (Shaft is not pressed) Below 1 Ω
    Switch connector - Switch body OFF (Shaft is pressed) 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPLACE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARKING BRAKE SWITCH - RADIO AND NAVIGATION ASSY) 
    1. Disconnect the radio and navigation assy connector R12 and parking brake switch connector P6.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in PARKING BRAKE SWITCH - RADIO AND NAVIGATION ASSY RESISTANCE .

      Standard: 

      PARKING BRAKE SWITCH - RADIO AND NAVIGATION ASSY RESISTANCE

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      PKB - P6-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      PKB - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
