Inspection Procedure

  1. Check the back light condition of Night View Display. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    2. Switch to Inspection Mode (See PRE-CHECK ).

    CHECK: 

    Check that the back light of the Night View Display comes on.

    OK: 

    1. The back light comes on. 
    1. NG: Go to step   6 . 
    2. OK: Go to Next Step. 
  2. Check Night View Camera using SST. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Remove the over head junction (map light cover).
    2. Remove the connector from the Night View Camera.
    3. Connect SST to the wire harness of the Night View Camera on the body side as shown in the illustration.

    4. Ignition switch ON.
    5. Inspection Mode ON (See PRE-CHECK ).

    CHECK: 

    Check the screen of the Night View Display.

    OK: 

    1. 3 levels of Black-White shade intensity displayed. 
    1. NG: Go to step 3. 
    2. OK: Replace Night View Camera. 
  3. Check voltages between terminal CB+ of Night View Camera and body ground. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Disconnect the SST.
    2. Ignition switch ON.
    3. Inspection Mode ON (See PRE-CHECK ).

    CHECK: 

    Measure voltage of terminal CB+ on the vehicle side as shown in the illustration.

    OK: 

    1. Voltage: Above 6 V

    1. NG: Go to step   7 . 
    2. OK: Go to Next Step. 
  4. Check for an open or short circuit in the wire harness between the Night View Camera (CV+) and Night View ECU (NTSC) (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Remove the combination meter.
    2. Remove the connector "N6" from Night View ECU.

    CHECK:

    Check resistance between terminal NTSC of connector "N6" and CV+ of connector "N9".

    (Terminals of ECU: See TERMINALS OF ECU )

    OK: 

    1. Resistance: Less than 1 Ω 

    CHECK: 

    Check resistance between terminal NTSC of connector "N6" and body ground.

    OK: 

    1. Resistance: More than 10 kΩ

    1. B: Go to step 5. 
    2. C: Repair or replace wire harness or connector. 
    3. A: Replace Night View ECU. 

    HINT:

    If the symptom still occurs, replace the Night View Display.

  5. Using an oscilloscope, check the output waveform between terminal VG of Night View ECU and body ground. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Connect the connector of the Night View Camera.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Switch to Inspection Mode (See PRE-CHECK ).

    CHECK:

    Using an oscilloscope, check the output waveform between terminal VG of the Night View ECU connector "C" and body ground. (Terminals of ECU: See TERMINALS OF ECU )

    OK: 

    1. The output waveform is as shown in the illustration. (Reference) oscilloscope condition:

    1. NG: Replace Night View ECU. 
    2. OK: Replace Night View Display. 
  6. Check voltage between terminals DIM, C/C CUT, IG of Night View ECU and body ground. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Remove the combination meter.
    2. Ignition switch ON.

    CHECK:

    Measure voltage between terminals DIM, C/C CUT, IG of the Night View ECU connector "C" and body ground.

    (Terminals of ECU: See TERMINALS OF ECU )

    OK: 

    1. Voltage: 
    2. DIM: Approx. 5 V 
    3. C/C CUT: Approx. 5 V 
    4. IG: Above 10 V 
    5. (All the 3 terminal voltages must meet the standard.)

    1. NG: Replace Night View ECU. 
    2. OK: Replace Night View Display. 
  7. Check voltage between terminal 6VOUT of Night View ECU and body ground. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Disconnect the connector "N9" from the Night View Camera.
    2. Remove the combination meter.
    3. Ignition switch ON.
    4. Inspection Mode ON (See PRE-CHECK ).

    CHECK:

    Measure voltage between terminal 6VOUT of the Night View ECU connector "N6" and body ground.

    (Terminals of ECU: See TERMINALS OF ECU )

    OK: 

    1. Voltage: 5.7 to 6.3 V

    1. OK: Repair or replace wire harness or connector. 
    2. NG: Go to Next Step. 
  8. Check voltage between terminal 6VIN of Night View ECU and body ground. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Ignition switch ON.
    2. Inspection Mode ON (See PRE-CHECK ).

    CHECK:

    Measure voltage between terminal 6VIN of the Night View ECU connector "B" and body ground.

    (Terminals of ECU: See TERMINALS OF ECU )

    OK: 

    1. Voltage: 5.7 to 6.3 V

    1. NG: Go to step 9. 
    2. OK: Replace Night View ECU. 
  9. Check wire harness between terminals VGL, VDD, and VGH of Night View Battery ECU and Night View ECU (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 

    PREPARATION: 

    Remove the wire harness between the Night View Battery ECU and the Night View ECU.

    CHECK: 

    Check the resistance between terminals VGL, VDD, and VGH of connector "D" and those of "B".

    (Terminals of ECU: See TERMINALS OF ECU )

    OK: 

    1. Resistance: Less than 1 Ω 
    1. NG: Replace wire harness. 
    2. OK: Replace Night View Battery ECU.
