Oil Control Valve Operation (GS300 & IS300)

  1. Oil Control Valve (OCV) is located on top front of valve cover and has a Black 2-pin connector. See Fig 1. Remove upper timing belt cover (No. 3 cover). Disconnect OCV connector. Remove bolt, OCV and "O" ring. Connect a fused jumper wire between battery voltage and terminal No. 1 at OCV. Connect another jumper wire between negative battery terminal and terminal No. 2 at OCV and note OCV plunger operation.
  2. With battery voltage applied, plunger on end of OCV should extend. Disconnect a jumper wire. Without battery voltage applied, plunger should retract. If OCV operation is not as specified, replace OCV. Using a NEW "O" ring, install OCV. Tighten OCV retaining bolt to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m). Install upper timing belt cover and tighten retaining bolts to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m).
