Circuit Description

Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor uses a platinum hot wire maintained at a constant temperature. Airflow past sensor affects temperature and current flow through sensor. If DTC P0100 is set, ECM will operate in fail-safe mode (ignition is fixed at 5 degrees BTDC). DTC P0100 is set when ECM detects an open or short circuit, for more than 3 seconds, with engine speed around 4000 RPM. Possible causes are:

• MAF circuit open or shorted.
• MAF sensor.
• ECM.
