ISSUE
Where an engine misfire is confirmed on a AJ20-P4M or AJ20 P4H engine derivative and any of the following DTCs are stored in the Powertrain Control Module, please follow the steps below during diagnosis.
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0300/P0316/P1315/P3498-71/P3499-71/P349A-71/P349B-71
CAUSE
Currently under analysis.
ACTION
- Using TOPIx Cloud Diagnostics and with reference to the TOPIx Workshop Manual, follow the DTC help text listed. If the diagnostic process identifies that the Continuous Variable Valve Lift (CVVL) assembly requires replacement and during removal of the component it is noticed that the engine oil appears to be of a sludge type appearance, please collect a 100ml sample of the used oil in a suitable container.
- Raise a Technical Assistance (T.A) quoting reference 'PTS-100 Powertrain'.
- The engineering team will then respond to the T.A advising the next steps required.
- If the engine oil is not of a sludge type appearance, there is no requirement to obtain an oil sample or submit a T.A, please continue with diagnosis and rectification as guided using TOPIx Cloud Diagnostics and the TOPIx Workshop Manual.
